NRUTHYA GANGOTRI SCHOOL OF DANCE
Bharatanatyam, a pre-eminent Indian classical dance form presumably the oldest classical dance heritage of India is regarded as mother of many other Indian classical dance forms.
Originating 2,000 years ago in southern India, it is one of the most graceful, subtle and sophisticated styles of dance art. It is rooted in The Natyashastra, a treatise on dance, music and drama written by sage Bharata about 3,000 years ago. It is said that the Hindu scriptures (also called Vedas, because they were voluminous) were not being read by the common people. So the gods requested that Bharata create a way to communicate profound knowledge. This was the origin of The Natyashastra, which suggests the use of dance and drama to communicate and create Rasa, an aesthetic experience that transforms the audience.

ALL ABOUT ME
Vidhushi Smt. Vidya Vijay
Bharatanatyam is my passion and took a professional path as a teacher from 2000. Honestly, I cannot think of anything else that would bring me more joy and satisfaction everyday although I hold a Master's degree in Biochemistry from University of Mysore. I love working with students of all ages and abilities and get so much satisfaction on seeing how they grow and develop in their skills and performances.
I started learning the sacred art of Bharathanatyam at a very young age under the able guidance of Guru Natyacharya T. N. Somashekhar (disciple of Padma Bhushan R. Venkatalakshamma). Later on, I started learning the Kalakshetra style of Bharathanatyam under the expertise of Dr. Sheela Sridhar (desciple of Padma Bhushan Rukmini Devi Arundale) who heads Department of Dance, Mysore University.
Presently, I am continuing my dance learning under the blissful tutelage of Guru Smt. Suma Nagesh (disciple of Dr. Prof. M. R. Krishnamurthy, Kalakshiti).
I have performed Arangataram along with my sister Preeti who is also an accomplished dancer.
Dance is just not learning but also performing to an erudite audience. My extensive performances include Mysuru Dasara, South Zone Festivals, Hampi Utsav, Chandana TV, holy temples during auspicious occasions. I continue to perform along with my gurus and disciples.
